Windows Movie Maker…what type of movie files can be played?

I want to add a shirt video to my windows movie maker project..but it says It can’t be imported(I think its an mp4). What kind of movie file does the short video have to be in?
And is there anywhere online that will convert for free?

Windows Movie Maker can only Add the following type of video foramt!
I Video

1) .AVI (Loss less video – non compressed best for editing)
2) .MPG (VCD/DVD)
3) .mpeg
4) .m1v
5) .mp2
6) .mp2v

II) Audio

1) .wav
2) .aif
3) and the compressed world famous .MP3

III) Picture Files : Almost all

If your video is not listed here such as .mp4 or .3gp you have to download a free converter
